About
My name is Finlay Smith, based in Glasgow and Fife, Scotland. I have worked as a sound recordist, boom operator, and postproduction sound designer on numerous student and short film productions.
As a sound trainee, I am currently on the ScreenSkills HETV Trainee Finder programme.
In 2023, I was awarded an MA with distinction in Sound Design for Screen at Bournemouth University and in 2020, I graduated with a first-class honours degree in Audio Engineering at Perth College UHI. From my studies, I have gained knowledge and experience in using Pro-Tools as well as experience recording, tracklaying, editing and mixing sound effects and dialogue to stereo and various surround sound setups. Furthermore, I have experience setting up and operating equipment such as multiple microphones for both Foley/ADR and location recording using location/field recorders and operating analogue and digital mixing consoles.
